Someone told me “In life, you gotta do things even when they’re tough… even when you don’t like it, you just gotta do it!”
I was caught off guard, wasn’t able to utter a word while these thoughts were running in my head. Like, who is this person talking to me?! 🤦🏻♀️
At age 9, I didn’t have a mom and a dad. I lived with a loving grandparent who was tormented by her alcoholic husband. Yes it was tough, I didn’t like it, but I survived.
At age 14, I was given 1 month notice to relocate to province, a new school, new dialect to learn, new everything. Yes it was tough, I didn’t like it, but I survived.
At age 16, I was relocated to a new place, again, new everything. It was tough, I didn’t like it, but I survived.
At age 24, I became a mom, in a foreign country, no help for the baby, away from my grandma. It was tough, I didn’t like it, but hey – I survived and my son is turning 13 soon. 💙
At age 27, I was divorced, this is the start of my solo-parenting journey. It was/is tough, I didn’t like it, but I am still here!
Of course these are just highlights, as there are too many scenarios to mention from my “Tough and Dislike, but I Survived” list.
So next time you want to “teach” me about LIFE… you may wanna ask me instead, coz I sure have lots of REAL-LIFE LESSONS to share! 👊🏻
